Virtual Quilting Bee Blocks

Here are my first two 'New Kids On The Block' Quilting Bee blocks.

I am in Big Time Love with the results of the 2nd one. It's called {Cheater's} 8-Point Star.

After the HotterThanHaiti's poolside photo shoot this morning, this beauty will be headed back to her permanent residence in Cincinnati, OH.

Thank goodness this was a fun block.  I'm now back on board with this whole Virtual Quilting Bee thing.  It was touch-and-go there for a while.

I actually sewed something...

I rarely sew unless there is some sort of deadline looming.  Today is no exception.
This is a shop sample using the new MODA FruitCake christmas fabric by BasicGrey.  Pattern by Me and My Sister Designs called 'Easy as 1...2...3'
Oh and since I can never sew anything using just one fabric line there are about 4 or 5 other hidden gems in the mix.  I think it just adds a better flavor when you throw in a few randoms.  Kinda like cooking.

RawEdge Circles at The Oasis

I made a bit more progress today on my Raw Edge Circle Quilt. I'm using an Oz layer cake and a chocolate brown Bella Solid, all from MODA.

My quilt is inspired by Cluck.Cluck.Sew's tutorial:

If only I could stop being so sidetracked by this lovely new addition in my back yard. Appropriately named "Oasis de Rae" by my most recent guests. Such a lovely distraction.

Hopefully I can get some more sewing done tomorrow evening at our monthly meeting of the Heritage Sewing Group.
As I get these blocks completed I'm going to be faced with the tough decision of how to set them together. I'm contemplating chocolate brown sashing, perhaps with each row slightly offset from the other. I'm afraid that setting them together without sashing (like the original) is going to look strange for my version.  Your input is appreciated.

Put Me In Coach... I'm Ready to Play!

So here I am...succumbing to the peer pressure, and becoming a blogger.  All the cool kids are doing it.  Heck, they've BEEN doing it for a long time.  I've just been sitting on the sidelines watching all the action, as usual.

This weekend I finally made it to a Dallas Modern Quilt Guild Saturday Sew event.  I took my 'Country Mouse' cousin with me and we ventured over to a giant office building in the big city.  I had a great time with some fabulously talented ladies and came away inspired to carve out more time to sew and be creative.

So, today I sewed another cute little Leprechaun Snack Sack, otherwise known as Rachel's Friendship Bags to use as a display at my mom's shop.  I used some of the Moda 'Oz' fabric as well as a few fabulous coordinates that I think play nicely with it.  I machine quilted it with pink thread to satisfy my overwhelming desire for a little bit of red and pink together in every project.
